PARKMANDU

Parkmandu is a collective initiative that intends to build and rebuild parks for the city of Kathmandu. Due to the lack of public space and parks in the city, we have decided to organize a group of multidisciplinary members with the common goal of creating pertinent public spaces to enjoy.

We are focused on the idea of making parks because besides the urgency of greenery of the city, we believe that children deserve more places to play and enjoy. Likewise we want to create spaces where people will have a sense of belonging with their city. 

We have been documenting the existing parks and finding out that less that 6 % of the city is open space and the number of parks is a warming signal that Kathmandu needs to start rethinking the urban organization in order to give the people a good quality of life.
